How is Systems Thinking used in the real world?

11th October 2022

You never quite know what you would get by putting a few people together in a panel. In some exceptional cases, the panellists get on each other’s nerves and things become awkward, but more often than not, they are so polite with each other that there is hardly any spark in the ensemble.

On 11 Oct, RC4 hosted Dr Douglas O’Loughlin, Ms Bernise Ang and Dr Aaron Maniam. All have deep expertise in systems thinking and extensive experience in the policy world. Indeed, the aim of the session was to enlighten RC4 students how systems thinking – that they all learn in RC4 – is applied and valued in the real world.

This panel made magic! They shared their experience applying systems thinking in such an enjoyable way that it was hard to tell whether the session was an academic panel discussion or a cross-talk show! There were plenty of serious stuff, real-life examples and insights, but there were also banter, inside jokes, and good camaraderie, all expertly moderated by Dr Aaron Maniam.

Couldn’t have been a more successful session, and 90 minutes passed by in a flash.
