The NUS Student Entrepreneurship Voyage

4th April 2024

On 4 April 2024, Residential College 4 (RC4) had the privilege of having two distinguished entrepreneurs from The HANGAR by NUS Enterprise - Daryl Lim of Augmentus and Qi Herng Kong of Moonbeam Co. The Cognitio Perspective session provided an invaluable opportunity for RC4 residents to gain insights into the journeys of these founders and gain inspiration for their own entrepreneurial endeavours.

During the session, residents delved into the experiences of Daryl and Herng Kong as student entrepreneurs, navigating through the challenges and triumphs of building their respective startups. Both entrepreneurs shared candidly about their entrepreneurial journeys, highlighting the pivotal role played by The HANGAR in providing support and guidance throughout their ventures. RC4 residents also had the opportunity to deliver quick elevator pitches to showcase their innovative projects and ideas.

Qi Herng Kong, CEO and co-founder of Moonbeam Co., discovered his passion for sustainability during his undergraduate studies at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Alongside like-minded peers, Kong co-founded Moonbeam with the aim of addressing food waste through innovative solutions. His dedication to sustainability and entrepreneurship has earned him recognition, and he continues to drive impact by promoting the adoption of sustainable practices in businesses and institutions.

Daryl Lim, co-founder of Augmentus, leads an AI-robotics software company that collaborates with manufacturers globally to automate industrial processes. Lim's entrepreneurial journey is marked by his commitment to innovation and social impact. Prior to Augmentus, he co-founded Illuminate Singapore, a platform for social issue conversations, and Edge Neo, a prominent distributor of blockchain encryption solutions in Southeast Asia. Lim's achievements, including being named to Forbes 30 under 30 and receiving the Youth Entrepreneur of the Year award, underscore his dedication to shaping a sustainable and inspiring future through technology and entrepreneurship.

RC4 extends heartfelt thanks to The HANGAR for the invaluable support for this session and their continuous support to emerging student entrepreneurs at NUS. The ongoing collaboration between RC4 and The HANGAR is a testament to the university’s dedication to cultivating the potential of the next generation of innovators and changemakers.
