Residential College 4 (RC4) is honoured to receive a Partner Award from SG Cares Volunteer Centre @ Queenstown at Partners in Empowerment 2026 on 19 August 2026, in recognition of the College’s contributions to the Queenstown community. The award, presented by Mr. Eric Chua, Member of Parliament (MP) for Queenstown and Senior Parliamentary Secretary, recognises RC4’s efforts to engage students in meaningful intergenerational activities that foster connections across generations and contribute to a more caring and connected community.

This work is anchored by two RC4 courses, UTC2732 Rethinking Ageing: Potential for Integration and UTC2733 Rethinking Ageing: Potential for Connection, facilitated by Associate Professor Lynette Tan. The courses introduce students to service learning and intergenerational bonding, while encouraging them to examine ageism and co-create sustainable activities that strengthen intergenerational connections and promote social cohesion.

Through these collaborations, students engage with different generations and gain first-hand insights into the experiences and perspectives of different generations, while contributing meaningfully to the wider Queenstown community.

The Partner Award reflects the collective efforts of RC4 students, faculty and community partners in creating meaningful impact beyond campus. RC4 thanks SG Cares Volunteer Centre @ Queenstown for the recognition and looks forward to continuing its partnership with the Queenstown community to build stronger intergenerational connections and a more caring and connected neighbourhood.
