Life After Collisions: Birth, Death & Healing – Public Lecture by Prof Maharaj Pandit

Life After Collisions: Birth, Death & Healing - Public Lecture by Prof Maharaj Pandit

10 October 2025

The ongoing collision of the Indian-China plates created the Himalaya mountain range - and transformed life across Asia. That upheaval drove biotic exchange and speciation, leaving a lasting imprint on Southeast Asia’s biodiversity. Its influence reaches into human culture too: unique Himalayan species have shaped Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda.

Watch the recording to hear the full story from Professor Maharaj Pandit, Ngee Ann Kongsi Distinguished Visiting Professor at NUS, as he connects tectonics, ecology, and medicine through decades of research.

This public lecture was co-organised by Residential College 4, NUS College and NUS Alumni Relations.
