Past Fellow

Dr Wang Wei Yang received his PhD in Particle Physics with the Astroparticle Physics Group at the National University of Singapore. He was a visiting scientist to the University of Antwerp, Belgium from 2010 to 2014, and has been a CERN associate since 2014. His research involves the phenomenological modelling of quark-gluon interactions and analysing large datasets from the CMS Collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world's largest particle accelerator. In 2013, Dr Wang was a pioneering member of the historic NUS-CMS (CERN) agreement that the Physics Department (NUS) signed with CMS (CERN).

Dr Wang frequently speaks at particle physics and astronomical outreach activities, such as ASTRONOMY 2017 at the ArtScience Museum and the IPS-NYP Annual Astronomy Retreat. He follows and uses the latest developments in big data processing and machine learning models, especially current advances in deep learning applications.

Dr Wang is an avid traveller and trekker. His favourite locations include the Swiss Alps, the Everest and Annapurna regions in the Himalayas. He enjoys leisure rock climbing, snowboarding, and diving. He volunteers with DataKindSG, applying his data analysis skills for good social causes.
