I Went to a Sleep Module and Came Back with a New Way of Thinking: Inside RC4’s Unique Curriculum
It's a Tuesday evening, and instead of slumped shoulders and furrowed brows, our classroom looks more like a quiet studio. Yoga mats line the floor. Students lie still, eyes closed, breathing slowly as a soft guiding voice plays from the speaker at the front of the room.
This is not a wellness retreat. It is part of a weekly module called "Sleep Health: A Holistic Approach to Well-being"- one of the most unexpectedly transformative modules I have taken at RC4.
An Unscripted Night of Music at RC4
The usually quiet corners of RC4 slowly transformed into a space filled with guitar riffs, laughter, off-key harmonies and the kind of spontaneous energy that only live music can create. Music Night, organised by students for students, turned out to be less of a polished concert and more of a communal jam session - and that was exactly what made it memorable.
RC4 Puppets: A New Kind of Showstopper
RC4 Puppets greeted the college for the very first time at Slumber Party with their debut performance ‘Trick or Treat!’. As part of a Senior Retention (SR) Project, the Halloween comedy skit was met with enthusiastic responses from the audience. The project had been quietly taking shape for months before that night. It started in the summer of 2025, when the team's creative lead, Charlie, caught a puppet show at the George Town Festival while travelling in Penang.
Arts Night 2026: Arcadia
“If I must write a story of my personal journey in RC4, Arts Night will be the main character. Arts Night provided the opportunity for me to rediscover my passion for performing on stage,” recounted RC4 resident, Ridley Leong. Held on 29 March 2026, the annual Residential College 4 Arts Night ended off with a high as the committee and performers who have put in half a year’s worth of effort saw their hard work bear fruit. This year, Arts Night returned under the theme of Arcadia.
From CCAs to Cravings: RC4’s Late-Night Supper Scene
As night falls and hunger grows stronger, many students in RC4 have only one thing on their minds. Questions like “Who’s placing the order?” or “Where are we going for supper?” flood the group chats.
